In the 70's Ford went from 2 sets of head lights to 1 set, and came out with the Boss which prevailed for most of the 70's. The Mustang still had the Falcon's Chassis but had a range of engines from the 250-ci-6 rated at 145 horsepower to the 351 rated at 240 and 285 horsepower. During the 70's Ford also came out with the Mustang Cobra Jet, and the Super Cobra Jet which had a range of engines from the 429's riding on 375hp, to the Boss 351 shooting out 330hp.

Soon after Ford came out with the Mustang II which everyone hated because it was too small and under powered. So Ford decided to revise the trim, and change the engine, and came out with the Mustang Cobra which was still only mildly performing . After two years of the Cobra, in 78'They came out with the King Cobra which wasn't much more than a Cobra with revised trim.
