Ace began playing the guitar at the age of 13

The first song that he ever learned how to play was "Mr. Brown, You've Got A Lovely Daughter" By Herman's Hermits.
Ace was a roadie for the Jimi Hendrix experience for one night, which was Jimi's final New York appearance. He helped set up drummer Mitch Mitchell's drum kitt.

Ace got his nickname from the ability to get his friends dates. He was called "an Ace" for his matchmaking,
Ace met his wife Jeanette in 1970 when he was 19 years old.
In 1970, Ace had to have reconstruction surgery on his face because he had suffered a fractured cheekbone from a bar fight.

Ace first custom guitar was a lighting shape model designed by Washburn Guitar. He used it for the filming of his "Into the Night" video in 1987, but never used it live.
