Ariel is the "Little Mermaid" She has long red hair, blue eyes, and a green tail. Ariel is outgoing and wants to be human and free.

Prince Eric is the man that Ariel is in love with. He is a human prince. He has black hair and he's charming. 

Flounder is one of Ariel's friends. He is yellow with blue stripes and fins. Flounder is always nervous and not outgoing at all.

Scuttle is Ariel's other friend. He is a seagull and gives Ariel false information about humans and their possessions. He is funny.

Sebastian is a crab, he is also Ariel's friend. He is serious but brings humor to the movie.

Triton is Ariel's father and he is the King of Atlantis. He is strict and is strongly opposed to Ariel's fascination with humans. 

Ursula is an evil, eight-tentacled, underwater sorceress.

Ariel is a mermaid who is fascinated with humans. She has a collection of human artifacts in a secret cave. Her friend, Flounder, and Ariel find them from various places like sunken ships. Sebastian is also Ariel's friend and sometimes he goes along with them. Ariel's father is Triton and he's the king of Atlantis. He doesn't like humans or approve of Ariel's interest with them.

One day Ariel and Flounder go up to the surface and watch a boat. There is a storm though and Prince Eric is thrown overboard. Ariel saves him and takes him to the shore. Before he figures out who she is, Ariel leaves, but Ariel has already fallen in love with him.

Unable to live without him. Ariel goes to Ursula, with her father's magic triton and asks her to change her to a human. Ursula agreed, but she made Ariel a deal. Ariel would give Ursula her voice, which was very beautiful and attractive in exchange for human legs. There was another catch, Ariel had to get Eric to fall in love with her and kiss her in 24 hours or Ariel would be Ursula's slave forever. Ariel agreed. 

Ariel went up to the land and met Eric. He took her to his castle and let her live there. She got to be human, but she was mute because she didn't have her voice to Ursula. Still Eric was starting to fall in love with her. Every time she was about to kiss him, though, Ursula's pet eels would ruin it.

Finally, Ursula thought that Ariel was too big of a threat. She transformed herself in to a human and put Ariel's voice into a conch shell which she wore at her neck. She used it as her own voice. Eric fell in love with Ursula and forgot about Ariel. Eric decided to marry Ursula's human form.

At the wedding, which was held on a boat, Scuttle tore the shell off of Ursula's necklace and Ariel got her voice back. Eric realized that Ariel was the girl who had saved him, not Ursula and that he really loved Ariel. Just as they were about to kiss, the 24 hours ended.

Ariel and Ursula both changed into their original forms and Ariel became Ursula's slave. Eric rescued Ariel though. He drove a boat into Ursula and killed her.

In the end, Triton gets his powers back and with them, he turns Ariel into a human. They get married and live happily ever after.
