One
of the most important things to know about Pembroke and Cardigan Welsh
corgis is the points of healthcare and problems that are common in
corgis. Common problems are feet and nails, ears, and back problems.
Itchy paws are one of the most irritating thing a corgi experiences, as well as the humans. After being exposed to usual irritants such as lawn fertilizer, or other chemicals, the paws begin to itch. Either pills or gels can solve this. A common medicine is Benadryl. Washing the feet also helps. Ear infections are also common, as the corgi has large, unusual shaped ears. The corgi will scratch and whimper, and pills or ear drops can cure it. Back problems are some of the more serious things that can ail a corgi, caused by it's long back and short legs. These can be prevented by keeping a corgi active while young, and not rough- housing until they are at least 1- 2 years old. Activities that can benefit a corgi are flyball, and just playing frisbee. |
