Snakes are cold-blooded animals which means that they rely on the sun for warmth.  Snakes can be found almost every where all over the world.  Also, there are over 2700 different species of snakes.  But, there are only 11 different groups of snakes. Also, Some snakes are venomous.
Snakes live practically everywhere, they can be in rivers, swamps, marshlands, mountains, deserts, and tropical rain forests, can be habitats for snakes.
You can tell if some snakes are venomous or not by their color.  Just like the to the left, it's colors warn other animals that its venomous.
Snakes have scales all over their bodies to protect themselves.  The scales are made of keratin, the same material that's in our hair and finger nails.
As a snake gets bigger they have to shed their scales to make room for their new scales.  The shedded scales are kind of transparent.
All snakes are predators which means that they don't eat plants, their prey is caught alive.  Some snakes can eat bats, lizards, birds, fish, frogs, or even snails.
Most snakes use camouflage to blend in with their surroundings, so they can hide from other animals that eat snakes.
