Lizards can be found on almost every continent in the world except for Antarctica, and mostly live in tropic areas.  There are 16 different groups of lizards, and there are over 4000 species of lizards. 
The chameleon is one type of lizard. Chameleons have a lot of weird features, for example they can have 1 eye looking forward and 1 eye looking backward, also they can change colors depending on their mood, and they have a tongue that can shoot out of their mouth that is used to catch bugs, and is also longer than their body.
Another type of lizard is the iguana.  Iguanas have very small diets, all they eat are small insects and plants.  The color of iguanas are usually gray, black, brown, and green
The gecko is another type of lizard.  The gecko is best Known for it's ability to climb on almost anything.  Most gecko's live in warmer areas of the world, which is mostly in the tropics.  Most gecko's are nocturnal, which means that they only stay awake at night.  Gecko's make a chirping , clicking, or barking noise.  Also, just like snakes , geckos shed their skin every once in a while too.
Another type of lizard is the monitor lizard.  The monitor lizard lives mostly in Africa, Australia, and in some parts of Asia.  The monitor lizard will eat almost anything, from bugs to anything the size of a deer.
