Reptiles are cold-blooded animals, which means there body temperature depends on their surroundings. Most reptiles have hard  scaly skin that prevents them from drying out.  There are 4 main categories of reptiles, they are turtles, lizards, snakes, crocodiles, alligators, and frogs.   

Reptiles have been around for millions of years.  The earliest fossil found dated back to over 315 million years ago.  That shows how long they've been around. An example of early reptiles would be dinosaurs
