Jim Morrison - as many call him - a true legend to rock 'n roll. Jim was born in Florida on December 8th, 1943. The wild, daring, disobedient, Jim with absolutely no regard of any law standing before him as surprisingly born into a family with a long history of career militarists. His father Steven Morrison was a high-ranking naval officer. Because of his father’s militant position, the Morrison family was always moving around the country.
When Jim got older he moved to Los Angeles, California, to go to school at UCLA and study film in 1964. During Jim’s UCLA years, Jim did a lot of experimenting with LSD (a powerful hallucinogenic drug). In 1965 Jim met his ‘soul-mate/girlfriend’ Pamela Susan Courson at Gazzari’s Nightclub on the Sunset Strip. (A year after Jim met Pam, The Door’s recorded their first album.) Pam was a red headed, outgoing, risk taking, drug abusing, gorgeous, 19 year old, when she met the Lizard King. She was born in 1946, Weed, Northern California and was also an art student in L.A.
Jim dedicated his song ‘Love Street’ to Pam. Although Pam was his ‘first love’ and he called her his ‘soul mate’ – she definitely wasn’t the only.. And the good thing about Pam was that she didn’t really care who Jim was sleeping with, as long as he still loved her. With this in mind, Jim went right along doing whatever he wanted with whomever he wanted to do it with. But all that came to an end when he met Patricia Kennealy, in early 1969, while she as interviewing him for a magazine (Jazz & Pop). Patricia was born in New York City on March 4th, 1946. Patricia was a semi famous rock critic and editor of Jazz & Pop magazine. Patricia was very big on her Irish/Celtic religion. She even considered herself a 'witch'. On June 24, 1970 Jim and Patricia where hand fastened (in that religion, it would be something like marriage for us). It wasn't an officially legal marriage, but regardless, Jim Morrison was married. He was even going to have a kid with Patricia but they decided that with both of their lifestyles, it would be better to just have an abortion. Jim and Patricia were married for 13 months right up until the day he died.

Jim and Pam

Patricia

In 1971, Jim went on vacation with Pamela to Paris, France with the intention of spending a few months with her and then gently breaking off the relationship so that when he returned to the states he could live with his ‘wife’ Patricia. Unfortunatly, James Douglas Morrison never made it home. On July 3, 1971, the 27 year old, rock legend, died of a heroin overdose in his bathtub in Paris.Jim was buried in Pere Lachaise (a cemetery in France) and his body should still be there today. About 3 years later Pamela Courson died on April 25, 1974 also of a heroin overdose. Patricia, on the other hand, is still living and even played a part in Oliver Stone’s ‘The Doors Movie’. In the film Patricia played the high priestess at hers and Jim’s own wedding ceremony. (For the record, the movie touched on mostly the negative highlights of Jim’s life.)

James Douglas Morrison was truly a rock’n roll legend. He opened the doors for a whole new generation of music. He was extremely talented and shall forever be remembered.
