Samoyeds or Sammies, are big, fluffy, white dogs.  Males are twenty-one  to twenty-three inches tall and females are nineteen to twenty-one inches tall. The tail is long and thick and it is carried over the back and to the side when alert.  When they are resting, the tail is dropped.
Sammies have a famous Samoyed smile.  The smile is caused by the lips being slightly curved at the mouth. Sometimes it is referred to as "the dog with Christmas on it's face."  The Samoyed always looks happy.

Sammies are intelligent and independent.  They are also very friendly. Samoyeds will be nice to everyone including strangers.
Sammies get their name from the Samoyed tribe.  They were nomadic Siberian people and they used the dogs to pull sleds and herd reindeer.

Originally, Samoyeds were multi-colored dogs.  They were black, black and white, or black and tan.  Eventually, the white became the dominant coat color.
As you can see, the Samoyed has a broad skull, medium length muzzle and s black nose. Aren't they so handsome?

Samoyeds are great working dogs.  They can be therapy dogs, herding dogs, weight pulling dogs, sled dogs, and they can have many more types of jobs.
