American Eskimos actually have nothing to do with their name.  they got their name because they were first bred in the American Eskimo Kennel.  It was simply the name of the kennel.  No one really knows how they came to be known as the American Eskimo Dog.  People sometimes refer to them as "Eskies" because it is easier to say.

The Eskie is a long coated white breed that requires a lot of care and attention.  Eskies come in three different sizes.  These sizes are standard, miniature, and toy.  All sizes have a white or white with biscuit cream colored coat.  Eskies are compactly built and are well balanced. The face is so cute and adorable with its keen, intelligent, and alert expression.

The American Eskimo Dog is intelligent, alert and friendly. They are never too shy or aggressive. Eskies are great watchdogs because they give a warning bark to announce the arrival of any stranger.  These dogs are very loving and lovable and are great with kids.
