| Leonardo Wilhelm DiCaprio was born in Los Angeles on November 11,1974. To burnt out hippie parents who named him after the renaissance artist Leonardo Da Vinci. His mother chose his name after feeling him kicking in the womb in as she stood in front o f a Da Vinci painting. | |
| While laying calm to a fairly normal childhood. Leonardo is also full of stories how dreadful his life was growing up with a poor single mother in a notoriously dangerous area of Hollywood boulevard known as syringe alley. Their were poor. Their were drug attics everywhere. | |
| Leonardo made his screen debut on TV at age five on the children's show "rompter room". This was something of a false start in show business for the youngster as he was thrown off set for uncontrollable behavior. It would be over ten years before he secured his first big screen role and a few more years after that he would make it big in Hollywood. | |
| Leonardo's next step in the acting world came at age 14 when he signed with an agent and was featured in over two dozen television commercials including Matchbox, bubble gum breakfast, cereal, toys and short educational films. | |
