Sandcastle Water park

Sandcastle water park is located along the shores of the Monongahela River, just a short drive from the Waterfront and downtown Pittsburgh.  Sandcastle property was the U.S. Steel Homestead Works.  The park opened in July of 1989.  Sandcastle is Pittsburgh's wildest summer playground.

The Blue Tubaluba is the newest attraction at Sandcastle.  This ride is total darkness for four hundred fifty feet.  At the end of the ride, the riders enter a four foot depth of a pool.  This ride is Sandcastle's first dual rider, enclosed slide.
The Mon Tsunami, a Japanese tidal wave, is a twenty thousand square foot wave pool.  The deepest part of the pool is six feet.  At certain intervals, the pool generates ocean like waves crisscrossing across the pool.

The Thunder Run is a three slide water ride.  While twisting and turning, the rider lands in a four foot pool at the end of the ride.  Tubers Tower is very similar to this ride.  It is a ride that contains only two tube slides, and it begins from a forty six foot platform.

The Boardwalk Blasters are two shotgun slides.  They are twenty-five feet long and have a surprise ending.  The slide ends into a twelve foot depth pond.

The Cliffhangers are a pair of slides that have "sky ponds."  These are pools of water in different sections of the ride.  The tower is forty-eight feet high and it gradually descends lower to the ground.

The Lightning Express are two identical slides that are designed for speed, also known as "body slides". These body slides are sixty feet high.  "The Monster" is a giant, two hundred fifty feet long body slide that is in between the two other body slides.

Wet Willie's Water Works and the Tad Pool area are designated for youngsters.  The Lazy River is a relaxing ride.  It is a quarter mile of floating on tubes.  The last attraction is the Formula 1 Speedway which is a go-kart ride.
