Race for the Cure means exactly the same as it says. This organization is when marchers come and have a race to find the cure for breast cancer. The racers come and ask for sponsors from friends and family to help raise the money. Then they come and race to earn that money. The money is put forward to fund research on finding the cure. |

The women in pink featured above are survivors of Breast Cancer. All of the women racing who are wearing it are survivors. They run to help out others who are going through what they did.
Other people run with dedications written on their backs made out to family and friends who are or have suffered from breast cancer along with the deceased. In the race they have a regular winner and then the first survivor to finish. Many times though, a survivor has finished first. Not only women race in pink though. Several thousand men are diagnosed with breast cancer each year. They race in a purple, blue survivor shirt right along with the ladies.
