Soccer isn't too hard to understand but there are still a few rules that you need to know to understand how to play the games the right way. To have an equal match you need 11 players on the field all together. You need 10 field players and 1 goalie. The field players can move the ball down the field with any part of their body but their hands and arms during the game of play. If a player touches the ball with their hands or arms during the game of play the other team gets a free kick at the same spot where the ball was touched. The goalie on the other hand can use anything to get a hold of the ball. Their only rule is that they can’t leave their box which is 18 yards. Or the "18".
When the ball get kicked out on either of the sidelines the team that didn’t kick it out gets a throw in. A throw in is basically just taking the ball over your head and throwing it into someone from your team, but you can’t lift your feet off the ground and you must stand behind the end line. Then, if your team kicks the ball out on the two lines that sit along the goal the other team gets a corner kick. A corner kick is when the other team gets a free kick, and the ball lies in the center of where the 2 end lines meet. If the other team kicks it out on the lines next to the goal your team gets a goal kick. A goal kick is when the goalie puts the ball on the 6 yard line and gets a chance to get it to the same team.
Then, there is something called offsides. I feel that this is one of the hardest rules to understand. The half line on the field shows a separation between the two team’s halves of the field. If a player runs on the opposite side and gets behind a defender before the ball is kicked its offsides, but if the ball is kicked and then you run behind the defender then its not offsides. The consequence to getting called on offsides is the other team gets a free kick where the player was caught offsides.
Now that a few other simple rules are that you can’t intentionally knock someone over, you also can’t sub a player to come off the field unless the ref calls you on, and lastly when the other team have a free kick you must be 10 yards or further away from the player kicking the ball.

Soccer isn’t too hard to understand once you have heard the rules and have played for a little.
