Born in Liverpool, England in 1942. James Paul McCartney would become half of one of the most successful songwriting partnerships the 20th century would ever see.
While with The Beatles, Paul played bass guitar an d wrote music and lyrics along with Lennon, some of their better known songs included "Yesterday", "Penny Lane", and "Let It Be".
McCartney first solo album after the Beatles breakup was titled "McCartney" and was the only a mendiocoe success. In 1971, Paul formed a new group called wings and enjoyed such hits as "Uncle Albert", "My Love", and "Band on the Run".
The 1980's brought McCartney successes with duets involving Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson. McCartney collaborated with fellow British rock star Elvis Costello. Which produced his most critically acclaimed album in years titled "Flowers in the dirt".
McCartney album "Flaming Pie" put him back on the charts in 1997, winning him a nomination for album of the year. Paul was also knighted for his lifetime contribution to music. Paul McCartney was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1999. He also holds the record for the most hit songs by a song writer, making him the most popular composer in history.
