


John was born in 1940. He lived in Liverpool, England. He was raised by his aunt because his parents separated. He played rhythm guitar and sang lead for the Beatles. Lennon was the driving force behind the group, credited with giving his songs much intellectual depth. Some of his memorable songs include "Nowhere Man, "Strawberry Fields Forever", "All You Need is Love", "Revolution", "Come Together", and "Day in the Life".
In 1969, he married Yoko Ono and staged a "Bed-in for Peace" to protest the Vietnam War. Lennon continued singing and songwriting recording, his best know work as a solo artist.
From 1975-1980 John went into seclusion in New York City to raise his son, Sean. In 1980, he emerged to record his album, "Double Fantasy". Later that year his life was cut short by a deranged fan outside his home, who shot and killed him.
After his death John Lennon was honored with the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 1991 and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994.
Lennon will long be remembered as on e of the critically acclaimed and commercially successful song writing partnership in the history of music.
