Johann Sebastian Bach was born in Eisnach, Germany on March 21,1685. He was the eighth child of the family. Bach's father was a succesful musician,and wanted his childeren to have a solid musical education, specializing in violin. When Bach's parents both died, only a month apart, he became orphaned. He then moved in with his oldest brother Christoph. Christoph then gave Johann lessons on the organ and taught him the basic rules of music composition. | |

which he composed are Wachet Auf which translates into Sleepers
Wake. This is an example of an Advent Chorale. Bach's
other ype of organ music was more free style with extreme effects and
dramatic contrasts. Some examples of this style would be Toccata and
fugue in D minor.
Bach had once said that he wrote music for the glory of God and for no other reason than that. |

Bach had also composed many famous compositions. Sheep may safely Graze and Jesu, Joy of Man's Dressing were amoung them. The Little Organ Book, which was a collection of simple compositons that he had wrote for his students. This book includes some of the most famous songs by him. They are still being played by intermediate piano players. Bach had died on July 28, 1750. |
