David Eric Grohl was born in Warren, Ohio on January 14, 1969. Dave was a happy child until the age of 6 when his parents divorced. Dave needed something to take his mind off of things so he decided he wanted to play drums. The only set of drumsticks he owned were a very heavy set of old, marching sticks ( which probably had something to do with what a strong drummer he became). He would lock himself in his room and play drums on his pillows with the heavy sticks until his windows would drip with condensation from his sweat. At the young age of 16 Dave dropped out of high school to pursue his career in music.

At age 16 he joined the band "Freaky Baby" which was very short lived. Dave then joined "Scream" which lasted for 5 years. In 1990 two young men by the names of Kurt Cobain and Krist Novoselic approached him because they were blown away by his drumming ability and asked him if he would like to join their band  (Nirvana). he accepted and stayed with the band until Kurt's tragic death.

After Cobain's death, Dave was so depressed and shaken that he didn't know if he even wanted to do music anymore. So he gathered all his ideas that he had for Nirvana and went to a recording studio with Krist and recorded an album of which he played all the instruments (He had been playing guitar since the age of 10). Krist and Dave wanted to do different things with their music so they went their separate ways. Dave releases the cd and entitled it "Foo Fighters". Then he recruited some band members and the Foo Fighters are still alive and making music today with such hits as Learn to Fly, Times Like These, My Hero (which was written for Kurt Cobain) and Darling Nicky.
