Chris (Krist) Anthony Novoselic was born on May 16, 1966 in Compton, California. Chris and his brother Robert would always get into trouble (vandalism) as a result their dad would whip them. Krist grew up listening to Led Zeppelin, Devo, Black Sabbath, and Aerosmith. In 1980 Krist's parents became so worried about his depression they sent him to live back in his country of origin Croatia. He picked up Croatian around the house and made a lot of new friends, he loved it there. He also discovered punk rock in Croatia. (The Ramones, and The Sex Pistols). He unwillingly came back to America and began to get onto smoking marijuana and drinking heavily. His Senior year he bought a bass guitar and began taking lessons. He graduated high school and his parents got a divorce.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Krist met Kurt in 1986, they formed Nirvana and Krist was a strong asset to the band. At shows Krist would often talk about politics between songs, even though he would usually get told to shut up by his band members or the crowd. He was the loudest and least known of the group.

 

 

After Nirvana's demise Chris began a new band called Sweet 75, however they were only together for a couple of weeks. Then a member from the Meat Puppets, and a member of Sublime approached Krist and they formed Eyes Adrift in 2001, they released an album in 2002, while never breaking into then mainstream they were still a great band. Krist is currently involved in the Musicians Against Censorship Association and he is heavily into politics, even considering running for mayor.
