Paul McCartney, such a popular name heard over the last 40 years.  James Paul McCartney was born on June 18, 1942 in Liverpool, England.  McCartney liked English Literature a lot and attended the Liverpool Institute as a child.  On July 6, 1957, Paul went to see The Quarrymen perform.  Paul had said John looked like he was the one to lead the band as he looked around while playing and he also said that John had resemblance to Elvis.

After the band's performance, Paul got to meet John and the other band members of The Quarrymen for the first time.

"They were having a few beers," Paul said.  "I picked up his guitar which I had to play upside down because I'm left-handed so that was a bit impressive."  Paul could also play the piano and trumpet too.  John and Paul hit it off very well and Paul was in the band soon enough.

Paul later on introduced George Harrison to John in 1958.  John didn't like George too much at first because George followed him around all the time.  After George snuck onto the bus after a gig one night and began to play "Raunchy" on the guitar, John started to like him.  When Paul asked John what he thought of George, "Yeah man, he'd be great." was the response he got.

Paul and John were the two main song writers of the group.  When somebody had brought inspiration for their songs up in an interview, Paul had said, "I don't know whether poets think they have to experience things to write about them, but I can tell you that our songs are nearly all imagination - 90 percent imagination.  I don't think Beethoven was in a really wicked mood all the time."

Paul, not knowing it at first, would soon be falling in love with Linda Eastman, The Beatles photographer.  Linda would be Paul's soulmate for nearly 30 years.  In 1965, Linda had taken pictures of The Beatles on the set of Help!  but didn't get to personally meet The Fab Four until one year later at Shea Stadium for their performance in New York City.

By the former member of The Animals, Linda was introduced to Paul in 1967.  Later on, after chatting for a long time, Linda was invited to go to a party at Brian Epstein's house.

Paul obviously liked Linda and she really liked him.  When he came to New York in May of 1968, he had gotten her phone number and they spent several of his days there together.  Heather, Linda's daughter was even babysat by Paul when Linda had to go to shoots at concerts.

The couple started to live together and after a few months, they got married on March 12, 1969.  When they got married, not any of the other Beatles were there to attend.  John and Yoko claimed they were working on a project, George said he was busy with business and Ringo and his wife had plans already.  Linda at the time was already 4 months pregnant with their baby.  This strong couple lasted all the way to 1998, until Linda was tragically diagnosed with breast cancer.  "Maybe I'm Amazed" and "My Love" are two very important songs for Paul, as they were written for the love of his life, Linda.

The White Album  had been the hardest for all of the band members. "The White Album  was the tension album," Paul had said, "We were all in the midst of the psychedelic thing, or just coming out of it.  There was a lot of friction.  It was the weirdest experience because we were about to break up; was tense in itself.

The relationship between Paul and John got to the point when John didn't care about Paul and Paul didn't want to talk to John.  When a record would come out by John, Paul would call Peter Bennett (The Beatles promoter) asking for John's number then John would call Peter saying he better be No. 1 first!

Paul kept getting better and better all the time.  His first solo album, McCartney, was topping the charts already before The Beatles song, "Let it Be" was even released.  Hits kept coming out more and more from paul and his new band, Wings, that was formed in '71.
Things were going smooth for Paul, he was even knighted by the Queen.  That was until the death of Linda.  Paul thought he was never going to get over her death but he has.  Heather Mills is now his wife and he is now a dad again too.

Paul's life had been fulfilled and full of energy and light.  Even though he was approaching the age of The Beatles once immortalized age in Sgt. Pepper's album, he had gotten through the losses of John, George, and Linda.  McCartney has all the right to think his life will continue "getting better" when he turns 64.
