| In January of 1993, Mario Lemieux, was diagnosed with a nodular lymphocytic form, of Hodgkin's disease (a treatable part of cancer). He immediately started treatment, while, finishing the end of the season. Mario Lemieux's treatment went from, February 1st to March 2nd. When he was done with the treatment, he returned to the NHL. | |
| After returning to the NHL, Mario returned to the game, and he one the Art Ross award. He was eliminated from the playoffs in 1993, Mario got married his long-time girlfriend, Nathalie Asselin on, June 26th. Now they have four children. Lemieux did not play much during the season of 1993-94 because of a herminated back muscle. He also sat out the entire 1995-1996 season, due to more back problems. | |
| In the 1996-1997 season Mario came back! He won yet another Art Ross award. | |
