Cheetahs are the fastest animals  on land. They can reach speeds up to 70 miles per hour for short distances. They have lone legs, slender bodies, and beautiful spots. cheetahs are considered to the most elegant of all cats.

You can tell Cheetahs from other spotted cats very easily. They hace dark lines that run from its eyes to its mouth. They are called "tear lines". These lines help keep the sun out of their eyes. The same way football players use the  black marks under their eyes.

Cheetahs hunt almost completely by sight. They go to the top of mounds or other raised places for a good view. When they spot a herd, they single out a victim and the hunt is on.
After making a kill cheetahs usually drag their kill into the shade of a bush otr tree. But they don't eat it right away. They have to catch their breath.  After a hard chase even the hungriest cheetah may need to rest up to 30 minutes before eating.

There are aton of species that the cheetah looks for. In East Africa the cheetah looks for the Thompson's Gazelle, Grant's Grazelle, Savanna Hare, Impala, Springbok, Dik-dik, Steinbok, Wildebeest, Topi, Reedbuck, Eland, and the Kori Bustard. In Namibia there is the Greater Kudu, Black faced impala, and the blue wildebeest. Last, in Botswana there is the Lechwe, and the common reedbuck.

Cheetah cubs are born in litters up to eight babies. The average number of a litter is four. When cheetahs are born they are less than a pound. Until they are 3 months old they have a silvery, gray mane.
Cubs grow very fast. When they are 3 months old they look like adult cheetahs.
Grooming is a very important part in a cheetahs life. the mother and cubs spend many hours grooming one another. After meals they all help clean each others faces.
Cubs are cautious at first to dead animals as food. they will watch the mother and learn what to do. After a while they lose their fear and begin to eat. But still the mother has to open the dead body so the cubs can get to the meat.
When a female is not caring for young, she lives alone, and travels and hunts in the home range. A cheetahs home, ranges from as large as 508 square miles and as small as 333 squares miles.
