There is no known date when cats were domesticated. They have been found with humans, probably from hunting purposes. The cats have gone from being worshiped to be hated. Black cats are normally feared but many cats have been loved as pets as long as they have been domesticated.
The Ancient Egyptians cats were loved and adored. They sat by their owners tied to a chair with a red ribbon. They were also put in sculptures and artists have painted hundreds of them.
Earlier settlers thought that cats were evil and were in league with the devil. They said that cats controlled mice and rats. They were supposed to be companions of witches and were called witch familiars.
The cats in many cultures have been able to tell the weather just by the way they sleep. They were worshiped and warded off the evil spirits. They also helped decrease the rat population.
Some people thought that cats could fly because of a deformity. The cat hair came in the form of wings. The first winged cat was found in 1897 in Matlock, Derbyshine. It could not really fly but it was very rare. Scientist think that if these cats would have had their hair brushed their fur would not mat to form wings.
Billy, a cat who lived during World War II learned the difference between V-1 aircraft bombers and normal airplanes. Billy would give his family a min. warning before any bombs dropped by hiding in the safest place in the house, the foyer.
