Mars

 

Mars experiences seasons and weather changes like Earth. Mars has 687 days that make a year while our planet Earth has 365 days a year. The large white area on Mars is polar ice contributes to carbon dioxide. The temperature on Mars is "-63 degrees Fahrenheit (-58 degrees Celsius. 

 This planet of being 4,200 miles (6,790 kilometers) across. Mars is smaller than Earth. Our planet is 10 times greater than Mars. 

 

When peering through a powerful telescope, on the equator of Mars formed huge volcanoes formed on the terrain. The tallest volcano on Mars is Olympus Mons being about 3 times higher than Mount Everest.  

In 1887, an Italian astronomer named Giovanni Schiaparelli noticed structures on the terrain of Mars with his over powering telescope. He called the structure canali, an Italian word meaning "channels."

 

In 1971 and 1972, satellite Marner 9 orbited around Mars providing 7,000 photographs of Mars. In one of the pictures taken was river channels found on Mars. This questions scientists if there was life on Mars.

 

During the Viking satellite mission to Mars shoot an image that started controversy in 1976. The "Face on Mars," is just a collection of shadows and ridges. Some scientists got fooled with the ,"Face on Mars."

 

 

 

Mars rotates every 24 hours and 37 minutes. Mars is 154,800,000 miles from from the sun. Mars has many steep canyons.

 

 

There was a meteor found in Allen Hills ice field in Antarctica from Mars. Scientists found 3.5 million year old bacteria life of microscopic wormlike structures. The bacteria was found on a meteorite from Mars.
