Jupiter
|
Jupiter is the fifth planet from the Sun. This planet has earthquakes, volcanoes, impact craters, and it has no valleys or canyons. Jupiter's atmosphere is made of hydrogen creating storms and ferocious winds. |
The solar satellite Voyager 1 shot many images of Jupiter showing that Jupiter has 4 rings. There are 2 transparent rings that consist the outer ring. The largest faint ring is 18 miles thick. The ring consists of dust and particles from meteoroids. |

The great Red Spot is one of the many spots that is visible on Jupiter. The Great Red Spot is 8,500 miles wide north to south and 14,913 miles west to east. The bright red and orange in the Red Spot is said to be the element of phosphorus. The Red Spot is said to made up of storms. The White Spot is said to be sulfur. |

In 1990, Galileo spacecraft shot many satellite images of one of Jupiter's moon Io had a radical volcano eruption that appears in a bluish glow. There are pools of boiling lava on Io's red surface. |
The ancient, cratered rock is one out of the 4 moons of Jupiter. Callisto is the oldest moon in the solar system that had many impacts on its surface from meteoroids. The 4.5 billion year old moon has scientists believe that this moon contains 60% iron rock and 40% ice. Castillo is called the, "dead moon" |

Scientists discovered a comet orbited around Jupiter. In July 7, 1992 the comet came very close to Jupiter that it shattered into many fragments. Jupiter's powerful gravitational field pulled the sphere of ice and rock until it separated. |
The Galilean satellite is Ganymede. Ganymede is one of Jupiter's moons with a 3,273 miles in diameter. Ganymede is larger than Mercury and it consists of ice and rock material. The moon is made up of many crators. |
The satellite Pioneer 10 came back to Earth providing information on the amount of hydrogen and helium in the planet's atmosphere
