To be successful in  paintball you must have god given skills and you must be willing to learn other skills as you get better.  The basic skills you should have are agility, speed, coordination, accuracy, an understanding of gun ballistics, stealth, and vigilance.  You do not need all these skills to be successful, but you must not have one thing; fear.  It may take a while to get used to the pain of being hit.  It sort of feels like a stone is being thrown at you.  After a short while it doesn't hurt at all.  Going out and practicing is the best way to improve these skills.  You could sign up for paintball classes or instructors.  People can also sign up to be on teams.  These are sponsered teams that practice with other teams to improve their skills.  Working as a team can improve all skills pluse teamwork.  You will become more observant and cautious the more you play.  You will be amazed at the change in your skills after playing for a month.  That is the basics on skills for paintball.
