In 1898, America won the Spanish American war. Also, in 1898 part of Anthony Kenny's farm was leased to the Monongahela Street Railway Company. The company also leased a picnic grove called "Kenny's Grove". With the land they built a trolley park named "Kennywood". Its first buildings were dance pavilions and merry-go- rounds. | ||
| During the first season, Kennywood had free band concerts in Kennywood's first band stand. Also, in the first season boating on the lake was offered to the visitors. Kennywood's Old Mill was built in 1901. It had a mill wheel, the boats were propelled through dark tunnels. It celebrates around 104 years old of operation. |

In the first decade of business, Kennywood opened the Toboggan roller coaster, the airship and a vaudeville theatre. In its second decade, Kennywood grew with the Speed-O-Coaster and when the Racer was added Kennywood started attracting all ages. | ||

The tobbogan was Kennywood's first coaster and was removed in 1926. | ||

The Pippin Coaster was completed in 1924 and was the third high speed coaster in Kennywood. It was designed by John Miller. | The Laser Loop
