On April 30, 1887 the Pittsburgh Alleghenies play their first National League game defeating the Chicago White Stockings 6-2, in front of  10,000 fans.                     

In December of 1889 the Alleghenies change their name to the Pittsburgh Pirates after signing second baseman, Louis Bierbauer, away from the Philadelphia Athletics.

On April 22, 1891 the Pirates play their first game at Exposition Park.

In 1901, led by Honus Wagner, who hit .353 and had 126 RBI, the team wins their first NL pennant, 90 wins and 49 losses record.

In 1906 the Pirates became the first team to use a canvas tarp when it rains.

On October 20,1907 Pirate's pitcher Nicholas Maddox became the first Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher to throw a no-hitter against Brooklyn at Exposition park.  

On June 30, 1909 a crowd of 30,338 watched the Pirates fall to the Cubs, 3-2, in the first game at Forbes Field.  Forbes Field was the first ballpark completely poured of concrete and steel.

On October 16, 1909 the Pirates first World Series win against the Tigers, 8-0 in game 7. 

On October 15, 1925 in game 7 of the World Series at Forbes Field, Kiki Coyler hits an eighth-inning, two out, bases loaded, double off Washington's Walter Johnson to win 9-7 and their second World Series victory.

  

This is Honus Wagner.  He was one of the great Pittsburgh Pirates. 

On May 25,1935 Babe Ruth hits his last three homers at Forbes Field.

On February 2, 1936 Honus Wagner was inducted to the Hall of Fame.

This is a picture of Pirates outfielder Brian Giles.  He started out playing for the Cleveland Indians. Then he came to the Pirates.
