Brooks conducted a team of players who knew no one else and lead them into victory and the United States over the Russians in the Olympic games. | Another legend is Gordie Howe. Gordie Howe is one of the greatest players alive. He retired on March 12, 1972 after over 30 years of playing in the NHL. Howe retired as a Detroit Redwing.
