
The major Places in Middle-earth

The Shire is the land where the hobbits come from, and the only place hobbits are well known about. The shire is a large area surrounded by mountains and a stream, which is why it is so secluded. This is where the journey of Frodo began, along with Sam, Merry, and Pippin's journey. |

| Weathertop is the place where the four hobbits were attacked, and Aragorn fought off the nine ringwraiths. It was used as a lookout tower by the elves in the second age during the last alliance. | ![]() |
| Rivendell is the home of the high elves, and where the council of Elrond was held. Here the fellowship was made to destroy the ring. | ![]() |
| Moria is the mines where the Dwarves used to live until the wars with the goblins. Mora also served as a home to many Balrogs, but they were slain. One by Gandalf, and the other by Glorfindel, an elf, in the same way. | ![]() |
| Lothlorien is the home to the woodland elves, unlike the high-elves in Rivendell which are more trained in combat than their counterparts. Galadriel, and Celeborn are some of the most powerful elven sorcerers and live here, along with Haldir, to guard the woodland elves. The fellowship comes here after the loss of Gandalf in Moria. Later the fellowship leaves with their provisions that will aid them in their journeys. | ![]() |
| Isengard is the place where Saruman the white lived. It was around for thousands of years, and was surrounded by woodlands for miles. It remained the home of wizards until the treason of Isengard, where Saruman served the dark lord. | ![]() |

| Rohan is the place where Edoras and Helms Deep, the two places visited in the movies. Also the westfold os here, which was where the wild men of Dunland attacked the village. Rohan is placed beside Gondor, Isengard, and Eriador, and is surrounded by mountains and streams on all sides. Rohan also is rich in natural resources, that is why there are so many horses for the cavalry, and that leads to the nickname, "The Home of The Horse Lords". | ![]() |

| Gondor is the place where the forbidden pool, Osgiliath, and Minas Tirith. Gondor was origanally much larger and stretched further into Mordor. That ended after Isildor was slain. Gondor is symbolized by the white tree. In Gondor there are constant skirmishes between Gondor, and Mordor. In the books and movies Minas Tirith is the final batlle between Gondor, and Mordor. | ![]() |
