Roger Harry Daltrey was born in west London, in Hammersmith hospital on March 1, 1944 during World War II bombing. Roger's father was a store clerk and his mother was a sickly woman that had one kidney and Polio. |
| As a boy, Roger was evacuated, along with his mother to Scotland to avoid the war. Later, he, his mother, and his two younger sisters were later reunited with his father. The family then moved to Acton, a rather wealthy suburb outside of London, where he attended Victoria Junior Boys School. | ![]() |

At first, Roger seemed to be a promising student, but that idea would soon crumble as Roger, who was quite rebellious, was expelled from Acton County Grammar school for smoking in the lavatories. |
| In Roger's childhood, rock and roll was hard coming. Being unable to afford an adequat guitar, Roger made one out of plywood! With his shabby guitar he and some other young lads started a small band and won a local talent show. | ![]() |

| Roger and Pete are the only two band members still alive today. Roger is doing the best of them all and has a new show airing on the History Channel. | ![]() |
