Curt Schilling one of today's
greatest pitchers has been traded to the Red Sox. With his pinpoint
control he will still win at least 15 games this year for Boston, but
won't make enough of an impact for them to win the World Series.
Ritchie Sexson a great slugger
from the Milwaukee Brewers hot 45 homers last year. Although the
Diamondbacks traded away Schilling they got a ton of young talent in
return and will do well with the addition of Robby Alamor at second base.
Miguel Tejada is one of the
top 5 shortstops in the American League and will do well in Baltimore. The
Orioles spent a lot of money this year and will do well but no good
enough. Also they added catcher Javy Lopez and first basemen Rafael
Palmeiro.
Vladimir Guerrero was newly
acquired by the Anaheim Angels from the Montreal Expos. Anaheim spent the
big bucks this year by signing outfielder Jose Guillen, Right-hander
Bartolo Colon, and hard-throwing Kelvim Escobar.
Hideki Matsui the
Yankees left-fielder is a hitting sensation. In 2003, he led all rookies
with 106 RBI's. He spent 10 years play for the Yomiuri Giants in Japan and
won the home-run title and MVP award 3 times a piece.
Eric Gagne of the Los Angeles
Dodgers in today's best closer. He set a major league record with 55
consecutive saves, in 2003. His only blown save was in the All-Star game
when he gave up a home-run to Texas Ranger, Hank Blaylock. This mishap did
not affect his record.
Ivan or "Pudge"
Rodriguez is the quickest catcher in the league. He is fast on his feet
and has a cannon for an arm. In, 2001 he tied Johnny Bench for the most
gold gloves by a catcher with 10. In the 2003 playoffs he had a team high
17 RBIs and helped the Marlins win their 2nd World Championship in the
club's 13 year history.
A great pitcher Mark
Prior of the Chicago Cubs will be making big news in this coming year.
Expect at least 15 wins, and with the all-star staff around him he will
get plenty of rest.
