The 1991 season was the first time that the Penguins won the cup.  After 24 seasons of being in the league they finally had it.  They beat the Dallas Stars in the championship, and Mario was named the playoff's MVP.  It was his first season with the Penguins and he was also their captain.  It is a cup that the fan swill remember for the rest of their lives.

For the second year running, 1992 season, the Penguins turned out on top.  This magnificent team, even after some major problems that year, managed to yet again claim the cup against the Chicago Blackhawks.  Their very next season they came so close to getting the cup as well.  They truly were a dream team.

The Penguins have beaten down amazing odds to become one of the best known teams in the league.  Countless stars have emerged from this hockey club, and it has even been home to the best, Mario Lemieux.
