Margaret LeAnn Rimes was born on August 28, 1982 in Jackson, Mississippi.  LeAnn was singing and tap dancing at the age of two and winning talent contests at five.  When the family moved to Texas, she sang "The Star-Spangled Banner" at various sports events.  Her parents recorded an album when LeAnn was seven.

Then four years later she recorded AllThat.  LeAnn's version of "Blue" was an instant hit in the U.S., reaching the top of the country charts, having 22 weeks at the top and multi-platinum sales.  In October of 1998, "How Do I Live" became the most successful U.S. single of all time, having 69 straight weeks on the Billboard chart.

Even for her young age, she has an extraordinary voice and is given adult music to perform.  LeAnn then topped the U.K. charts for her music from the movie Coyote Ugly.  The most popular song was "Can't Fight The Moonlight".  Then later in December, Rimes started a protest against her label, Curb, to release her from her contract.

At the same time she was in the middle of a legal proceeding against her father, in which she claimed he tricked her out of several million dollars.  LeAnn was finally reunited with her father on February 23, 2002 when he gave her away at her wedding.  LeAnn Rimes has come a long way in six short years, and she'll continue going.
