Beyonce Knowles was born on    September 4, 1981 in Houston, Texas.
Beyonce is part of the famous group Destiny's Child which she founded. In 1997 the group burst out with their hit "No No No", from their multi-platinum cd. That success was dwarfed when their follow up cd Writings On The Wall was released and sold over 10 million copies.
A year after Michelle Williams joined the group  Destiny's Child released Survivor. It debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 album chart and went to sell more than 9 million copies.
In 2001 the group took home  2 Grammy's: Best R&B song and Best R&B performance by a Duo or Group- both for "Say My Name".
Now Beyonce has started her solo career. Although the songs on her cd, Dangerously In Love, share similarities since she is writing the songs on her own they will be much more personal. Helping her was an impressive array of musical collaborators, including Missy Elliot, Jay-Z, Sean Paul, Mark Batson, Mario Winans, D-Roy & Mr. B, OutKast's Big Boi, Rich Harrison, Fanatic, Scott Storch and Luther Vandross.
Beyonce shares co-executive producer credits on 2003's Dangerously In Love with her father Mathew Knowles. She took an active role in all aspects of the album-from writing and choosing material to producing, mastering and mixing the tracks.
Beyonce isn't shutting the door on her past. Destiny's Child hasn't broken up they are going to continue going on tour and recording. They all decided a long time ago to explore solo projects and Beyonce is the 3rd member of the group to release her own record.
Beyonce just wanted to show a different approach and the growth she has experienced. The growth has extended beyond music. In 2001 Beyonce starred in MTV's Carmen, and in 2002, she appeared as Foxy Cleopatra in Austin Powers in Goldmember, 2003 find her co-starring with Cuba Gooding Jr. in The Fighting Temptations.
