The WUSA (Women's United States Soccer Association) was originally founded by Mia Hamm and Julie Foudy.  The league was started in 2001.  The league was started in order to keep the worlds focus on women's soccer during the years that there was no world cups or Olympics.

During the Fall 2003 season WUSA made a shocking announcement that it had filed for bankruptcy.  The founded hope to have another WUSA season by 2005.

The Atlanta Beat plays in Atlanta Georgia.  Their jersey colors are turquiose, purple and blue.

The Carolina Courage plays in North Carolina.  Their jersey colors are red, white and blue.

 

Power

The New York Power plays in New York, New York.  Their jersey colors are yellow and blue.

 

Charge

The Philadelphia Charge plays in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  Their jersey colors are yellow, red and black.

Spirit

The San Diego Spirit plays in San Diego, California.  Their jersey colors are yellow, red and blue.

 

Cyber Rays

The Bay Area Cyber Rays plays in The Bay Area.  Their jersey colors are purple, red and black.

 

Freedom

The Washington Freedom plays in and around Washington DC.  Their jersey colors are red, white and blue.

 

Breakers

The Boston Breakers plays in Boston, Massachusettes.  Their jersey color are blue, gray and white.

 

As the 2003 Fall Season closed, the WUSA shocked the nation by announcing that it was going into bankruptcy.  The WUSA may not return until the 2005 season.  It is possible it could be changed until a few more years of rebuilding pass.
