The WUSA (Women's United States Soccer Association) was originally founded by Mia Hamm and Julie Foudy. The league was started in 2001. The league was started in order to keep the worlds focus on women's soccer during the years that there was no world cups or Olympics. During the Fall 2003 season WUSA made a shocking announcement that it had filed for bankruptcy. The founded hope to have another WUSA season by 2005. |

As the 2003 Fall Season closed, the WUSA shocked the nation by announcing that it was going into bankruptcy. The WUSA may not return until the 2005 season. It is possible it could be changed until a few more years of rebuilding pass. |
