Jazz can be done in different types of shoes. It can be performed in jazz boots, jazz shoes, half-soles, or bare feet. Jazz is more entertaining when the dancer is flexible and able to move her legs and arms in various postions to attract the audience. High kicks and arched backs often keep the audience wanting to watch longer. | |

| Pointe is a form of ballet but with different shoes. Dancers must stand on their toes with only a small cushion for help. The dancers ankles must be strong enough to hold their body weight and not fall over. Most professional ballets are performed with pointe shoes. Pointe shoes are different from ballet shoes because with pointe you are dancing on your toes instead of with the rest of your foot. It takes many years to perfect the art of pointe. Many dancers feet are often blistered and callasted from the work of moving on their toes constantly. | |

| Lyrical is yet another way of dancing that dancers must extend every movement with. Being flexible also helps with lyrical making it better to watch. Lyrical dances are usually done with flowy and soft music with many accents to do jumps to. |

Lyrical costumes are usually flowy with skirts and flowers and sparkles. But sometimes they may be bold and bright. All costumes depend on the music. If a lyrical dance has loud music they will get a bright costumes, but if the music is soft then the costumes will most likely be a skirt that will flow nicely when the dancer turns. | |
