BLACK HOLES

Black holes are formed when a star dies.  Black holes are the only things in the whole universe that can suck in light.  Actually, they suck in everything that comes near them. They are one of the most mysterious things of all time.

No one knows exactly what a black hole looks like form up close, probably you can't get that close to one or you would be sucked in.  All the pictures of black holes on this page are illustrations.

There is a theory that if something goes in a black hole, it comes out a white hole.  This also may mean there is an alternate universe. (shown below).

The black hole was named by a man named John Archibald Wheeler.  He also  discovered the black hole, and came up with the theory of two universes.

COMETS

Comets are small, fragile, irregularly shaped bodies composed of a mixture of non-volatile grains and frozen gases.

The tails are formed when the comets goes by the sun (or another star), and the heat ignites the gases following the rock.

ASTEROIDS-

Asteroids are hundreds of miles long, and most orbit Mars and Jupiter .  They move at a very slow pace.

They are usually visible for months.  They do not come close to earth, and are millions of miles away.

METEORS-

Meteors are as small as sand, and were produced from comets.

When the enter the earth's atmosphere, they become visible to the naked eye. They can only be seen for a few seconds.
