Underhand Serve
The underhand serve is the easiest serve in volleyball.  It should be the first serve you learn.  First you have to put the ball in the opposite hand you hit with.

Place the foot that is the same side as the hand the ball is in, in front of you.  Then swing your hand with a fist and hit the ball out of your hand.

Overhand Serve

The overhand serve is the most common serve.  Many people say that this serve puts the other team under pressure.  It is very powerful.  First you stand facing the net with one foot in front of the other.  Then place the ball in the opposite hand which you hit.

Instead of hitting the ball out of your hand, you toss the ball above your head and pull your hitting arm back.  Then you strike the ball above your head.  Your toss is very important because it has to be in front of your hitting arm.  As you hit the ball you should take a step forward.
Jump Serve

The jump serve is the hardest serve to accomplish.  It is the same thing as the overhand serve but it is done in the air.  When another team sees a player do this serve they usually get intimidated.  The jump serve takes a lot of practice to perfect.

The spike is a very powerful hit.  Most points are scored by a spike.  What you do is you hit the ball as hard as you can on the opponent's court and try to make it hit the ground.  Most of players can't dig a spiked ball because it is hit too hard.  A teammate sets the ball very high and the spiker takes their approach and jump up and smack the ball on the opponents court.  The spike is a hard timing hit.
