The object of volleyball is to play the ball over the net and into the opponent's court by using a part of your body.  The ball cannot be held or caught.  The ball  must bounce right off of your body  and it cannot be carried.

Each team gets three chances to get the ball over the net.  The block is not counted in the three hits.  If a team contacts the ball more than three times the other team gets a point and the ball.
Serving has a lot of rules.  Some of them are that a player must stay behind the end line (including stepping on it), hit the ball over the net without touching the net.  Also, you cannot hit the ball over with other teammates help and you must keep the ball inside the court.  Also, a player may not reserve, they only have one chance.  The serving can receive a point if the other team breaks a rule or doesn't hit it.

A double hit is when a player hits the ball two times in a row.  A player can hit the ball on the first hit and the final hit.  During the game, you are not allowed to cross the center line and go on the other team's court.  You are also not allowed to touch the net during the game even if it is on your side.  Each team is allowed 15 substitutions in the game (they don't have to use every substitution).   Each player must stay in rotation for the whole set.
Usually there are three sets in one match.  A team must win a total of 2 sets per match.  A set is won of 15 points.  The team must win the set by 2 points.  The players can play a ball out of their are such as the attack zone.  If they do and they are a back court player, the n they cannot go above the top of the net to play the ball.  After each set, the teams switch sides on the court and have a 3 minute break.
Rally scoring is different than regular scoring.  In rally scoring the teams get a point ever time the ball touches the ground.  Rally scoring goes up to 25.  A team must win by two so they keep playing until one team in over 25 and winning by two.  You do not have to have the serve to receive the point.
The regular/side out scoring is different.  If the team is serving loses the rally then the other team gets the ball but not a point.  The only way a point is scored is if the serving team wins a rally.  During side out scoring, the teams play to 15 and must win by 2.  In rally scoring a team can get both the serve and a point.
