The dig has many names. Some of them are the fore arm pass, bump, or the dig. The dig is the turning point of the rally. It changes your side from defense to offense. The pass is made just above the wrist. The purpose of the pass is to make the ball easier for the setter to hit. This is an easy but very important hit. |
| In order to properly hit the ball, you must run (with your arms apart) to the place where the ball is. Then you put one hand over a fist and lock your arms together. Then let the ball come down and hit your '' platform''. As it touches your body, hit the ball then pull back so it comes off nice and soft. Now the setter can hit it. |

Tip: Be sure to create a flat surface so you don't get called for a double-hit. |

The set is the second hit of the game. It is played by making a window with your hands above your head. This hit is where double hits are usually called. It 'sets' the spiker up to spike. This hit comes very high and soft. This way it is easier for the spiker. |

There is also another kind of set. This set is called the back set. This is a hard set to do. It is used when the spiker is behind you. Instead of putting the ball in front of you, you must arch your back and set the ball behind you. If you can do this set then you are a fairly good player. |
