Every TV show has its own little secrets and inside jokes.  Here are some of Spongebob Squarepant's fun facts:

 

 *Spongebob's creator Steve Hillenburg thought about having a jellyfish as a main character.  But, jellyfish sting, so he picked a sponge instead.

*Steve Hillenburg (Spongebob's creator) studied marine biology in college.  It came in handy!
*Tom Kenny, who is the voice of Spongebob, was also the voice of Dog in Nickelodeon's CatDog.

*Spongebob was going to be called "Spongeboy", but the name was already taken.

 

Many things in Spongebob have been changed, mostly the names of the episodes.  But, some other things have changed, too.

Barnacle Burger --> Krabby Patty

Mr. Crabs --> Mr. Krabs

Crusty Crab --> Krusty Krab

SPONGEBOB VS. A SPONGE

SAME: If broken into pieces, sponges can grow back together.  So can Spongebob.

DIFFERENT: Sponges have no eyes, lungs, hearts, or organs.  Spongebob does.

 

 

 

 PATRICK VS. A STARFISH

SAME: Both have no brain (or act like they have no brain).

DIFFERENT: Patrick has 5 arms(or points).  Some starfish have over 40 arms!

 

 

 

 

 GARY VS. A SNAIL

SAME: Gary meows.  Both cats and snail's tongues are rough (a snail's tongue is called a radula).

DIFFERENT: Gary is calm.  Whelk snails eat the insides of other snails using their radulas toput holes in their shells. Not exactly calm.

 

 
SQUIDWARD VS. AN OCTOPUS

SAME: Both use their arms to move around the ocean floor.

DIFFERENT: Octopi can squirt inky fluid at others who threaten them.  Squidward can't.
