Roger Waters was the bands bassist, composer, and lead singer after founder Syd Barrett was kicked out of the band. He was the primary creative force in Pink Floyd From 1965 to 1983. He first met Syd Barrett in Saturday Art class. Then he moved to London to study in architecture at Regent Street Polytechnic and there formed a band with drummer Nick Mason and keyboardist Rick Wright. Barrett joined them forming Pink Floyd. Rogers wrote the three songs for their first album Piper At The Gates Of Dawn.
Waters started playing a more prominent role in the band once Std Barrett left and was replaced by David Gilmour. While his first solo work came up in Ummagumma. Waters best work would come soon after. Roger wrote most if not all of the lyrics for the album, Dark Side Of The Moon. One of the greatest albums ever. He also wrote all of the lyrics for ,Wish You Were Here, and, most of the lyrics in ,Animals, and the ,The Wall, who happened to be rivaling Dark Side Of The Moon in album sales. Waters was the sole author of Another Brick In The Wall Part ll,  a gold one drawn from ,The Wall. 

 

After Pink Floyd broke up David Gilmour, Nick Mason, and Rick Wright tried to reform and tour. Waters sued seeking an injunction to prevent them from touring as Pink FLoyd with out him. He had lost the case and, Gilmour led Pink Floyd to tour and record successfully. 

Following the fall of the Berlin Wall, Waters organized an all-star performance of The Wall In Berlin on July 21,1990. It was filmed and recorded. Resulting in the album The Wall- Live In Berlin. He made his third solo album, Amused To Death.
