Paula Abdul was born in 1963 in California where she started dance at 9 years old.  In the 80's, she became an LA Lakers Girl were her dance styles made her a successful choreographer.  She can now be seen as a judge on American Idol.

Bill "Bojangles" Robinson was born in 1878 in Richmond, VA.  He is known to be one of the most famous dancers of the 1920's and 1930's.  Especially for tap dancing.

Debbie Allen began dance when she was only 3 years old, and is a major in modern dance. Debbie is a talented dancer, choreographer, actress, and producer. She was seen on television and Broadway. Her awards were a Tony Nomination for singer, actress, and dancer.
Katherine Dunham, born in 1909 started dance at an early age. She brought her Native African and Caribbean dance back. She was a major influence on technique used in Broadway and by jazz dancers.

Gregory Hines was born in 1946, But began performing when he was 5. In 1978 he had  such a great performance in the musical Eubie, that he got a Tony Award, and a nomination for and Outer Critics Circle Award.
