JRR Tolkien was born on January 3rd of 1892 in Bloemfontien, South Africa. Tolkien's full name is John Ronald Reuel Tolkien but many people just call him Tolkien. Tolkien was born very sick for a child. Tolkien was said to be a very creative man. Tolkien grew up telling stories to everyone he knew. One day in 1933 he began to tell his children of a funny little creature called Bilbo. |

Three years later, in 1936 Tolkien finally completed "The Hobbit". One year later Sir Stanley Unwin published "The Hobbit" and JRR Tolkien began working on the "sequel". Which eventually became as Lord of the Rings. |
| Over a time period of 11 years by 1948 Tolkien completed the Lord of the Rings, trilogy. About 6 years later the Fellowship of the Ring and Two Towers, the first two sections of the Lord of Rings were published. |

Just one year later in 1955 The Return of the King. The final section of Lord of the Rings was published. Just 10 years later the: Publication of American paperback editions of Lord of the Rings was released. |
| Tolkien didn't like fame and tried to
stay away from the reporters as much as possible. The reporters
wanted to know more about this amazing ring that they kept hearing about. It has been said
that it was easier for a reporter to get an interview with the British
prime minister than with Tolkien.
Later on Sept. 2nd 1973 Tolkien died on a visit to Bournamouth, in a private hospital. He may have died but his memories and book are still with us. |

28 years later a man by the name of Peter Jackson admired Lord of the Rings so much. That Jackson took three years out of his life to make these amazing movies. The Fellowship of the Ring, Two Towers, and The Return of the King. He made each movie right after another and it was filmed in Wellington, New Zealand. |
