Frodo Baggins

"It's a dangerous business, Frodo going out your door..."

Frodo is the nephew of Bilbo Baggins.  Frodo is different, he is set apart from other hobbit's.  Frodo has heard Bilbo's adventures and would love to have his own adventure.  His task is to carry the One Ring and to destroy the Ring in the fires of Mount Doom.

   

Bilbo Baggins

Scholar and poet Bilbo Baggins is.  Bilbo is the most famous hobbit in the Shire's history.  He is best known for his adventures.  Speaking of a poet Bilbo wrote "There And Back Again, A Hobbits Tale".   Which takes place with Gandalf the wizard and when he returned he returned with a certain Ring.  Which Bilbo riddled out of Smeagol or Gollum.
   

Samwise Gamgee

A gardner like his father.  Sam spent his whole life in and around Hobbition.  Sam is Bilbo's gardner and always hears Bilbo's adventures.  About his journeys to foreign parts of Middle-earth.  Later Gandalf the Gray makes Sam Frodo's companion on his adventure to Modor.  

   

Meriadoc Brandybuck and Pergrin Took

Meriadoc Brandybuck also known as Merry comes from the Shire's most outgoing and well-to-do families.  A mischievous hobbit has been one of Frodo's closest friend.  Merry loves to play practical jokes especially with his cousin Peregrin Took, known as Pippin.
Pippin is the youngest of the 4 hobbits in the Fellowship of the Ring.  Pippin has lived in the Shire for his whole life, and never set foot outside of the Shire.  Until he set out on a guest with Frodo to destroy the One Ring.
