Corgi is the welsh word for
"dwarf dog". Which is a very good description for this
stubby legged dog known as the Welsh Corgi. The Corgi has big
pointed ears, short stubby legs, and is a variety of colors. But the
most unique thing about the Welsh Corgi is that not all of them have
tails. |

refined Pembroke Welsh Corgi. To the left is the Cardigan Welsh
Corgi. The Cardigan has a long, bushy tail, while the Pembroke has
only a stub or no tail at all. |

The Corgi is the smallest of the AKC
(American Kennel Club) herding group. Corgis are short and closer to
the ground, so they are very quick. It comes as a natural urge to
most Corgis to gather or circle the stock. Also driving the stock in
a straight line is a natural instinct for most Pembroke. |
| Corgis usually live to be about
12- 14 years old. In that life time both breeds of Corgis are sturdy,
healthy, and happy dogs. They are good companions, a loyal breed, good
with children and love to excel herding and agility. Corgis are
wonderful pets for the right people. |
