Dirt is a very popular style of riding. It is the first style of  riding. A 'Dirt Style' pedal bike today usually is light, made with strong tubing to prevent bending. The Rims on a modern dirt style bike are mostly single or double walled. Unlike street rims, which are mostly triple wall. Bikes setup for dirt also have only one set of brakes, back brakes.

Dirt Jumping has grown very much since it began. People started out building small, 2 - 3 foot jumps in woods and other dry places. Back then, if you jumped a 5 foot jump, you were a pro. Today, jumping a 5 foot jump is nothing. pro's are jumping 10 - 15 foot jumps and for them, it's child play.

As you probably know. Dirt jumping has many risks. People get hurt a lot. Few people have did dirt jumping or biking period.

One time at a dirt jumping contest somewhere, while practicing an armature got killed while attempting to do a bar spin. The bars got caught on his shirt and when he landed the bars penetrated into his stomach and killed him.

This is the way jumps should be shaped

The tricks people are doing are growing a long with the sport. 10 years ago, the trick shown above would be one of the best and hardest. Now Pro's look at it as one of the easiest.
