Although it is clear that modern baseball developed in North America, the exact origin of the game is difficult to determine. Most scholars believe that baseball evolved from a variety of similar games that have been played for centuries. A popular legend claims that Abner Doubleday, who was a Union officer during the American Civil War (1861-1865), invented baseball in Cooperstown, New York, in 1839. But there is little support for this story. Baseball has been around for a long time as you can see.
	One of the best baseball players is Babe Ruth. IF you don't know who Babe Ruth is then you don't know your baseball very well. Babe Ruth is one of the most well known baseball players in the history of baseball. He had a Home Run record, but many people broke his record. That is some info about Babe Ruth.
Another Great Baseball Player is Roberto Clemente. Roberto played for the Pittsburgh Pirates. Roberto was an incredible player. Roberto was the Pirates first Draft pick. He joined them in 1955. Roberto played into World Series. Roberto was awarded 12 golden gloves. Roberto was the father of 3 sons. He died in a plane crash on his way down to give unwealthy people food. He will be remembered as one of the best pirate players around.
	On the left you will se a picture of Mark McGuire. HE is the Home Run king. He has hit the most home runs in a single season. He played first base for the Cardinals. He is now retired.
On the right you will see a picture of Sammy Sosa. Sammy Sosa is also a home run king. He has hit fewer home runs than Mark McGuire, but he still hit a lot of them. He plays outfield for the Chicago Cubs. He is a pretty good outfielder.
	On the left there is a picture of the pirates symbol. Since willie played for the pirates that is why i put it there. Willie Stargell. Willie was a very good player. He played for the Pirates. Unfortunately he has passed away. But he will still be remembered. At the PNC park there is a statue of him.
On the right you will see a picture of Ken Griffey. On this picture he is on the Mariners. Right now he is on the reds.
	On the left there is a picture of Greg Maddox. He is a pitcher for the Atlanta braves. He is really good. He has a mean fastball. He can also mess you up with his curve.
