The Magic Kingdom opened on October 1, 1979 starting out with 21 attractions and 6 themed areas. The themed areas were, Adventureland, Liberty Square, Frontierland, Tomorrowland, and Main Street USA. Then in 1988, a seventh themed area opened, called Mickey's Toontown Fair. The Magic Kingdom covers a total of 107 acres. Throughout the Magic Kingdom, Walt Disney Company had underground tunnels connection the sections of the park so that cast members wouldn't have walk through themed areas that they don't work in. Today in the Magic Kingdom, there are 35 attractions, and the Magic Kingdom is still the most popular theme park in Disney World.
